As with the Lego classes each week, the children follow a routine. The class starts out with a Lego challenge and then I read a Lego book and after the Lego story they will create various buildings or structures that the book is based on. Some challenges follow various themes (community helpers, letters, vehicles). At the end of the class, each of them shares what they have built. I take photos of their creations and send them to their parents. They will also have some free unstructured time to build or play. For preschool aged children, Duplo’s are used and for the older students, we use the regular size Legos. These classes promote language skills, problem solving, creative expression and social skills. All the activities are age appropriate, and I use all my own supplies.
